Newsletter and Contest Info

Hey, y'all. I'm finally home from the first day back teaching after fall break. 5:30 came early this morning and getting back into the swing of it was hard . . .

I wanted to share a little information first about my newsletter group. I've recently begun sending out a monthly newsletter. It includes news (of course) about my books, trivia tidbits, a monthly recipe, reviews and contest information.

In the files section of the group, you'll find The Cutting Room Floor (scenes that didn't make it into the final versions of my books). Coming soon will be a series of online reads available only to my newsletter subscribers (the first one kicks off October 31 -- a nice Halloween treat!).

Kate Rothwell's Pimpin' Book Contest

Okay, let me just tell you how much I love Kate. I cannot even remember on which list I first met her (it's been a while), but I love her. She's funny, articulate, helpful, and a darn good writer to boot.

Second, you have to understand that I'm still trying to figure out the whole promo deal. I'm learning, but I don't think I'm that good at it yet.

But, I love Kate's new contest idea. Here's the deal, straight from Kate's blog:

Spring Break, Day 1

Ah, seven days of freedom. Well, sort of. Here's my TTD list for this week:

1) Complete edits on Truth and Consequences.
2) Update the two blogs daily.
3) Take Monster #2 for quarterly checkup.
4) Help DH with his college admissions paperwork (including the yucky federal aid stuff)
5) Actually write past page two on the WIP.
6) Make conference/revision notes on 35 rough draft research papers.
7) Grade eleven final draft research papers.
8) Force, er, supervise the Monsters as they clean their rooms.
9) Get my poetry unit plans for both 9th and 11th lit written and ready to copy for students by Monday.
10) Relax.

I have a book (inspirational romantic suspense set in Russia) a friend gave me that I wanted to read this week, but it may end up waiting for summer. I also have Jane Eyre lying around. I wanted to read it so I could compare it to Rhys's Wide Sargasso Sea.

Currently (meaing right this second), I'm working on my edits to TAC. I've already been out in the garden this morning, setting out canna lilies to go with my daylilies. I'm going to add some ferns, too, when I make it over to my mom's to pick up the one she told me I could have to set out.

In the Mood for a Little Romance?

My birthday was Friday, and it was a hectic day. Basically, in all the craziness of life, my birthday ended up a tad overlooked at home. Hey, no big deal.

However, my DH is a sweetheart, and today he picked up my car, detailed it for me, and returned it with a really sweet, mushy birthday card inside. When I arrived home, he had supper cooked and on the table. See? This is why he's my very own romance hero after eighteen years.

Oh, and by the way . . . What Mattered Most is LIVE and ON SALE NOW!

I think I want to celebrate by giving away a copy!
